Formerly known as “Wat Thung Samphao”, it was built in 2444 BE to collect scattered antiques for future generations to learn. There was a story that this area used to be the anchorage of Chinese merchants’ junks who tried to escape monsoon storms, and were unable to run the junk boat with the monsoon bringing sand to cover the bay. Eventually, Chinese merchants decided to settle down and made a living.
