It is located on the Malay Peninsula, on the east coast of the South next to the South China Sea. The area around Pattani Bay was also the site of a prosperous ancient city of Patani during the booming maritime trade era. The center of old Patani City is between two large rivers; Pattani River and Panare Canal, coming to Krue Se Canal.
