Local ancient house in Phatthalung (Rulers New Palace, Chapter: 3)

“New Palace”, was an ancient house in Phatthalung, Phraya Abhaibhorirak (Net Chantarojawong) who built this palace behind the old palace on the South side next to the Lampam canal. The villagers called the new palace that “Wang Mai Chai Khlong” or “Wang Chai Khlong” looked like a group of five Thai houses, raised on a high floor, surrounding a terrace in the middle of these houses. It looked like twin houses and triple-twin houses, consisting of the main house, which was the residence of Phraya Abhaibhorirak, Pattalung governor. It was a twin house. In front of the bedroom was a hall that was used for governors’ work. Another Thai house was a small house that had a bedroom and balcony in front of the room. The last one was a small kitchen. Every house is entirely made of wood in the traditional Thai style.

In 1983, the heir of Phraya  Abhaibhorirak (Net Chantarojawong) leading by Mr. Vivek Chantarojawong, former governor of Satun Province has given ownership of the new palace and land to the Fine Arts Department with the official handover ceremony held on September 24, 1983.
